Generic Cialis

What Is Generic Cialis?

Cialis is a brand-name medication used in treating erectile dysfunction and BPH. The drug is manufactured by Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical company. The medicine was first introduced in 2003. In the USA, patents for Cialis expired in 2016, and one year later, the valid patent in Europe expired as well. This allowed the manufactures of generic versions to hit the market.

Today, it is possible to purchase generic Cialis at much lower price than the original drug. There may be lots of differences between the tablets of the brand-name medicine and its generic versions, such as in color, shape, package, etc. However, they are same in terms of therapeutic effects because they have the same active ingredient tadalafil (C22H19N3O4). It belongs to PDE-5 inhibitors which help the blood flow reach the penis during an erection. PDE-5 inhibitors are used in all ED medications that can be found today.

How Does It Work?

A generic Cialis will not cause an erection without sexual stimulation, because it sends signals to the nervous system located in the erectile tissue, and as a result, nitric oxide (NO) is produced. It stimulates an enzyme that produces cGMP, which can relax the smooth muscle cells. This is how the arteries dilate, allowing the blood flow to reach the penis easily. Generic Cialis helps maintain the needed level of cGMP in the body, but without sexual stimulation, no release of nitric oxide will take place.

How to Take Generic Cialis?

Generic Cialis should be taken half an hour  before sexual intercourse. Its effects last for about 24-36 hours. Thanks to the long period of action, generic Cialis allows men to enjoy more spontaneity sex. Generic Cialis tablet should be taken orally with a glass of water. Generally, food does not affect its effects; however, it is recommended not to eat too fatty or large meals when Cialis is used.

What Dosage to Choose?

The medicine is available in the following dosages: 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg (the recommended dosage for most men), and 20mg. It may take some time to determine the optimal dosages based on a man’s response to treatment. Thus, the dosage may be increased or decreased. Men older than 65 years old are usually recommended to start taking the drug with 5mg. The maximum daily dosage is 20mg. A man should wait for at least twenty-four hours to use another dosage of generic Cialis.

Can It Cause Side Effects?

All medications may cause side effects and generic Cialis as well. If serious side effects occur in a man, the drug is considered unsuitable for him. In this case, urgent medical help is required.

The following are severe side effects that may be caused by the drug:
